Thrifty Thursday

My good friend Crystal at Surviving a Teacher’s Salary recently started a fun weekly post on the great deals she’s found at thrift stores. I thought it would be fun to join in!
Last week I told you all I’ve been introduced to the idea of consignment sales, both as a buyer and as a seller. I’ll be sharing my experience and tips as a seller with you next week.
I attended another local sale this weekend and was excited to find this awesome Calico Critters playset. Not only is it the carrying case (which retails for about $25 on its own), but also included furniture and other accessories… and more importantly, a TON of the Calico Critters figurines!

My daughter has just recently discovered and fell in love with Calico Critters, but they can be a little pricey. I couldn’t believe I found such a large collection for the price that I did! And it was the end of the sale and things were pretty picked over, so I’m equally surprised that something of this kind of value was still hanging around.
This is absolutely one we’re tucking away until Christmas. Can’t wait to see her face when she discovers it under the tree!

For the Calico Critters figurines, accessories and case, you’d pay approximately $125 retail.
Our price (thrifted) – Just $8.00 (jaw drop)
Savings – about $115
What great deals have you found lately at your local thrift store?

Thanks, Kelly! I hope she does, too! I’m seriously hooked on consignment sales now.
