T-Fal ActiFry (review and giveaway)

the T-fal ActiFry review

One of our main goals in the kitchen in the last year or so has been to start to move away from processed foods. The more we can get back to using real food and preparing it in the healthiest way possible, the happier I am about our family’s health and nutrition.

My husband and I have always been very conscious of finding healthy ways to cook our favorite meals. That said, we don’t like to sacrifice taste for good nutrition. We will if we have to make the choice, of course. But frankly, I don’t think we have to.

With quite a bit of experimenting over the years, we’ve transformed some of our favorite dishes into ones we could be proud of – both in taste and nutrition.

But let’s face it. There are some items that we just haven’t been able to perfect the healthy version of yet. Like fries. And homemade chicken nuggets. And that means that the kids are still pretty much stuck in the land of processed foods.

Until the T-Fal ActiFry arrived.

And all of a sudden, we have an easy way to make foods we can all enjoy – and that couldn’t be easier to make!

T-Fal ActiFry fries

Just waiting to get crispy!

These homemade fries are super easy to throw together. All you need to do is wash and cut a few potatoes. I sliced them pretty thin, not quite as thick as steak fries. The key is to dry the potatoes off thoroughly before putting them in the ActiFry. We didn’t make a full batch this time, so I used less than a tablespoon of oil, for the entire batch (which was still at least a pound of fries, I’d guess).

Then I set the timer for 35 minutes and went to do some laundry. Because I didn’t even need to think about the fries. At all. After the timer beeped, the fries were golden, crispy on the outside, not the least bit greasy and as amazing as some of the best restaurant fries I’ve tried.

Easy, delicious homemade fries.

Better yet, the T-Fal ActiFry actually cleans up so easily that it’s something we could use daily (seriously) and not have to do any serious scrubbing in between uses. Almost all the individual parts are dishwasher-safe. And it takes only a minute to reassemble.

Here’s how it works: T-Fal ActiFry is patented technology with pulsed hot air and constant stirring of ingredients with paddle that allows the perfect cooking of food with little to no oil (a tablespoon of oil, at most!).

The T-Fal ActiFry comes with a book filled with healthy recipes to try – some call for no oil at all, in fact! I can’t wait to make my way through the rest of the book so we can find some new family favorites!

Take a look at the video to learn more:

Next on our list to try are fresh chicken nuggets, granola and chicken wings. Seriously, if the T-Fal ActiFry can help transform the kids’ chicken nugget habit? I’m tweeting Jamie Oliver myself to tell him about it.

The T-Fal ActiFry can be purchased at Amazont-fal actifry, Bed, Bath & Beyond or at the T-Fal ActiFry website. It would make a pretty amazing gift and I bet lots of dads would have fun frying up their favorites for Father’s Day (hint, hint!).
