We recently had the opportunity to review the GeoSafari Vega 600 Telescope from Educational Insights.
This was pretty good timing, as we had the Venus transit occurring this week. We knew we wouldn’t be able to try spotting it with a telescope (you can’t look directly at the sun!) but it did get us talking about all things space. That got us really ready for some fun with the telescope outdoors.
My husband and son had fun putting the Vega 600 together as a team. It was easy to assemble, which gave our son the opportunity to get involved, too. It includes the tripod as well, so it didn’t take long to get it out of the box and ready to go.
My husband did a lot of bird-watching with his dad when he was growing up, so he’s excited to start that tradition with our son, as well.
In fact, we’ll be able to take this telescope along with us anywhere for some fun bird-watching expeditions: the beach, the state park or the local parks. It’s very easy to disassemble and my husband is particularly pleased that it can be stored right in its original case. The handle on the case itself makes it very easy to bring it with us anywhere we go.
This particular telescope is recommended for ages 8 and up, but my preschooler enjoyed it, with supervision.
What we love:
• Easy to assemble.
• Works well. Easy to focus.
• Lightweight and highly portable.
• Easy to store.
