by Alissa on October 3, 2011

via Morguefile

Last week we got off course with our meal plan a bit, so some of these are repeats, since we weren’t able to get to them last week.

Monday: Breakfast for dinner (pancakes, eggs and fruit salad)
Tuesday: Chicken, rice and veggies
Wednesday: Hot turkey sandwiches, green bean casserole and stuffing
Thursday: Chicken parm over spaghetti and salad
Friday: Pizza night

What’s on your menu this week?

31 Days of Pinterest

I’m blogging 31 Days of Pinterest Inspiration, with a special nod to potential holiday gift-giving.

I get a ton of free magazine subscriptions. And while I absolutely love them, sometimes I have a tough time finding ways to use all those magazines every month.

That’s why I especially love this idea for a pop-up magazine flower from Pink Paper Peppermints. Attention family members… you may be getting some pop-up holiday cards this year.

31 Days of Pinterest

Yes. I’m obsessed. A little.

Are you on Pinterest yet? I can’t find a better spot to be inspired.

And with the holidays rapidly approaching, I’m going to share 31 days worth of my favorite pinned projects – with the hopes that I’ll try and actually accomplish some of those favorites in time for gift-giving.

Wish me luck. Let me know what you think. And I’d love to hear what you’re pinning and what inspires you!

What I Wore (9/28)

by Alissa on September 28, 2011

This is my favorite outfit from the week.

The tank is from Kohl’s, the top is from Forever 21. I love the ruffles down the front — and the fact that it was only $15! The jeans are thrifted and the shoes are Chocolat Blu. The bag is from Roots.com.

We were out with friends celebrating my husband’s birthday.

How’d you do this week?

Money-saving tips from around the web

by Alissa on September 27, 2011

I read so many helpful tips each week that I thought I’d share a few with you here each week.

1. Are Large Eggs Always the Best Value? by Frugal Freebies and Deals

I don’t think I’ve ever ventured away from large eggs. And that’s completely by default. I just never even thought to look at the prices of others. That may have to change!

2. Outrageous Water Bill?  by 20Something Saver

We’re generally very good about water conservation here. We only do full loads, we don’t shower every day (it’s actually better for your hair and skin anyway!) and we turn off the water while brushing our teeth, among others.

But Elizabeth shares another great idea on ways to conserve the water we leave in our cups each day. (And with a 4-year-old who only drinks water, our house sometimes looks a little like the movie Signs, with half-full glasses of water resting everywhere you look.)

3. Save Money on Children’s Photography by Surviving a Teacher’s Salary

Such great tips for saving a ton of $$ on kids’ photos. As in, not spending anything, but getting incredible shots and capturing memories!

Hope you enjoy these as much as I have!

Thrifty finds: Retro kitchen storage

by Alissa on September 27, 2011

I knew when I saw these beauties tucked away on a table in the back at the thrift store, that I had to have them. I love the retro fonts.

We don’t actually use them for tea, coffee, flour and sugar, though. We use the two smaller containers for the kids’ art supplies (scissors, markers and glue) and the other for those fun refrigerator magnets that I’d rather not have out on the refrigerator door all the time.

The two larger containers in the set are still empty.

Any suggestions?

What I Wore (9/21)

by Alissa on September 21, 2011

I’m so excited that fall is here. Break out the scarves and cardis! This tank is from Kohl’s, the tee and cardigan are both from Target. The scarf is from Olive Blue and the shoes are b.o.c. The bag is from TJ Maxx.

I wore this for date night… dinner and a movie.

How’d you do this week?
